Advocacy’ can mean many things but in general it refers to taking action. Advocacy simply involves speaking and acting on behalf of yourself or others. In the school environment, this could mean having a discussion with your Principal about making changes to the seating area outside the canteen; meeting with the parent body to discuss healthier options at school events; gaining momentum in the school community to install new water bubblers. Whatever your cause, big or small, developing skills on how to advocate for change to create a healthier school environment is the first step in this process.
