All food businesses, including school canteens must follow the Food Act 2008 and the Food Regulations 2009. It is a requirement of compliance with the Healthy Food and Drink in Public Schools policy that all paid and volunteer staff complete FoodSafe® Food Handler Training, or its equivalent and All about Allergens training.
By implementing Foodsafe®, a business can:
- introduce basic staff training in food safety practices that comply with Food Safety Standards
- ensure their staff are allergen aware and receive recognition from Environmental Health Australia (EHA) so that customers can see that safe food handling procedures are implemented and staff are trained.
