As the majority of people learn their food safety habits from a member of their family, it is important to help children get things right from the start.
The Department of Health Food Unit, with the help of WASCA, is running a competition to promote food safety and hygiene designed for children of primary school age. The activities aim to help the children learn more about storing food in the fridge, preparing food correctly and keeping the kitchen clean and hygienic.
The competition can be accessed here: http://healthywa.wa.gov.au/foodsafety
Prizes include a probe thermometer for the canteen and a book voucher for the school! Prizes will be awarded to the three schools with the most entries.
Competition closes Friday 27 November 2015.
